Why use Conformal Coatings?

A conformal coating is a thin polymeric film applied to a printed circuit board (PCB) to protect the board and its components and prevent corrosion.

A newly manufactured PCB will generally perform well, but performance can quickly deteriorate due to external operating environment factors  (moisture, chemicals, salt spray and temperature). A coating can be used to protect PCBs and  components to prevent corrosion and failure. The protection allows for higher power and closer track spacing, enabling designers to meet the demands of miniaturisation and reliability.
