Traditionally the Electronics assembly market was concerned with hand soldering operations and the prevention of rosin fumes, known as colophony, accumulating on production lines. As a result of the health risk posed, many manufacturers reformulated their cored solder wires to be colophony free. However a range of fumes and fine particulates are still present during soldering, which should still be captured and removed.
Increasingly, even processes that are less operator focussed alternatives to hand soldering (Wave/reflow, conformal coating, laser coding, robotic soldering cells and PCB de-panelling) are producing their own causes for concern. Solder Connection in conjunction with BOFA International offer fume filtration solutions for each of these processes, to ensure operator safety is at the forefront within electronics manufacturing.
