ALPHA FLUX E191

This most popular halide free flux is also very low solids containing only 2%, it will give you an ultra low residue and is designed as a no clean flux. From a health and safety point of view this product is also free of colophony. Ideal for most types of double sided PTH boards giving excellent all round solderability and cosmetic finish. Although primarily designed to work well under spray conditions it can be made to foam if required.

Frequesntly Asked Questions :
Q - What does Halide free mean?
A - In many fluxes halides are added to the activation package to promote solderability. In the case of this flux solderability and wetting has been achieved using a range of chemistries which do not contain halides. The inclusion of halides within a flux can promote post soldering residues to become active in the presence of moisture and temperature fluctuations and promote corrosion long term which in turn can cause pcb failure.
Q - What does colpohony free mean?
A - Colophony is the generic term for rosins and resins. If in the case of case of a flux it is stated that it contains neither rosins and/or resins that it is deemed to be colophony free.
Q - Can l Conformal Coat without cleaning?
A - If you speak to the suppliers of conformal coatings then they would always recommend that the PCB must be cleaned first as this is how the original testing was done. However with the very low solids fluxes in use today we do see evidence that some companies have coated directly over the post soldering residues without causing issues.
